Hello one and all. After a bit of lurking I've finally been persuaded to join up and throw in my tuppence to the discussions!

Enjoy a nice stroll but activity of choice is 2 day hikes, bit limited on routes atm. Live in Sheffield and it seems wild camping on the nearest hills (Peak District) isn't permitted like it is on my 'home' moors (Dartmoor).

So all my 2-dayers here so far have involved stopping at campsites.

Nice to meet you DaFoot (is that the singular of DeFeat?), two day hikes is still more than some of us get up to, I'm more of a day hiker myself, with the odd treking holiday thrown in.

I'm sure there are a few wild campers in your area that will be more than happy to show you how to get away with wild camping in the peak district!

Plenty of folk on here wildcamp in the Peak District. I'm sure some of them will be along to give you some pointers.

I'd be paranoid about picking the wrong spot where the landowner doesn't like it and gets uppity!
