Hi

Im Steve 34 from Manchester, Have reached a stage of my life where Ive realised I need to get outdoors more!

Would like to get together with like minded people and enjoy the outdoors as much as I can!!

All Recomendations of treks and hike routes are more than welcome, and am also thinking wild camping might be right up my street also.

Hi Stephen, just across the way from you in Sheffield and will be wildcamping on Saturday the 26th starting out from Ladybower if you fancy jumping straight in.

Include a little history in your walks. Pecsaetan - Ancient Derbyshire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire - http://pecsaetan.weebly.com/

Well in terms of meeting like minded folk,  the madwalkers make lots of sense - they're the local ramblers group for youngish people. Nice people, decent walks, the odd weekend trip etc.

You're brilliantly placed for hiking in Manchester of course - several bits of the Peak District in no time at all, Snowdonia is fine by car and just about possible by train, the Lakes easy by car or train and the Yorkshire Dales/North Pennines fairly plausible too.

And thats just the obvious spots

The Lakes are probably the most obvious area for wild camping. Trains round to Windermere or round the coast.

Thanks Milly.

twig... Ill check my schedule closer to the time but sounds like a good idea to me Ill keeo you posted.

Thanks for info Martin, am just getting my kit together but almost there. Ive purchased Boots, waterproofs, walking trousers, 3in1 jacket, backpack etc.... Ive definately got the bug and cant wait to get out there. Bit worried about blisters in new boots but think Il do a few short walks locally first to wear them in.

Cheers guys. Where are most meets for walks etc posted on here?

Stephen - usually in the Meets and Partners Section

And of course, anyone can set up a 'meet'.  Milly and I are major culprits.....

All over the place in general

Not sure if anyone from here currently goes on madwalkers walks, if so not obvious. I did on/off for a while though, just currently exiled from Manchester!

I'm not a madwalkers walker. I'm in Buxton, Derbyshire, so pretty close although strictly speaking, in the East Midlands.
