Right, is it just me that doesn't seem to be able to use anything thats linked to microsoft like hotmail, msn profiles etc, or is it the usual case of aol being total twats and not letting you use anythin but their stuff. I tend to find all my non aol mates can access their hotmail accounts but not me!

Btw can anyone suggest any other ISP's that offer flat rate access that are worth using cos ive just about had it with shockingly poor browsers, not supporting virus checkers and the constantly rising price for declining service!

Errrrr do you get cable your way?
Since we got NTL broadband we have had constant access, always on, built-in firewall in our wee router, and easy access to yahoo, msn, everything! £15 for never-turns-itself-offlineness. It's an independent cable modem; (we don't have cable telly) and the installation was free.

When I first tried the Internet I tried a free offer from AOL and found it VERY STIFLING!! Their insistence on AOL for most things and no cross-curricular stuff got right on my ladybumps.

...and a friend who tried an AOL trial was getting religious messages through which she was very anti!

Yahoo hates AOL...but I am very attached to my email address, so I can't be arsed to change it.

ditto here Ben this is an aol/msn quote "there is a recognised problem between aol nad access to msn services, we (msn) are aware of it and are working to remedy it.." Yea right
Any way I have big prob with line at uni in my room too noisy and modem is dying just to make matters worse!

Another satisfied A-O-Hell customer.....

I tried the free trial disc once and it took control of my PC. Never again.

I am currently being ripped off by BT's 'Brokenworld Nevertime' package, which seems to be trying slyly to force me towards broadband.
'tis odd how my connection speed has 'mysteriously' slowed down since this area has became BB enabled.....

BT have admitted that they *deliberately slow down access* by narrowing the bandwidth so that their service doesn't become 'overpopular' or some other reason equally obscure.

I've had no major problems using my Totalise web-mail over the last few years, though the site seems to be up and down a bit over the last few months. I also opened another new web mail account with Postmaster, which has been fine even though the interface isn't that user friendly. I've always steered clear of the big sites with freebie discs.
Obviously with web mail I can't view off line or use Outlook etc but that's not been much of a restriction for me to be honest...

I've had BT Home Highway ISDN in at home for a few years, which isn't cheap but has been problem free and fast, though I'm thinking that it's probably aging compared with broadband, though it hasn't bugged me enough to investigate (if it ain't broke etc..)

So has anyone used BT evening and weekend surftime?

Ok just asked Em what went wrong. She says that the BT line kept disconnecting itself every half hour and sometimes when it did it, the pooter crashed.
It doesn't crash now.

I hate that auto disconnect thing.

Thankfully AOL doesn't do that!

And to change the topic slightly: my keyboard is creaking with the layer of assorted cack I've oinked into it. Vacuuming is just not enough - how should I clean it?
11/12/2002 at 16:31
Isopropyl alcohol, AKA propan-2-ol
11/12/2002 at 16:33
