Where is Dorset...?

Looking at the forecast for Swanage for the coming weekend, and I notice that, according to the BBC, it comes under 'London and the South East'.

On investigation, it appears that you have to cross the Border into Devon in order to enter 'South West England'.

Just seems a rather odd split to me...

I live in the north-west of England, but for the purposes of public transport, Traveline puts me in the north-east!

Yep; having grown up in Dorset, I've always considered myself to be a west-country girl. But apparently not

Dorset is covered in south-east regional programming, though tbh nothing ever happens there that's newsworthy anyway.

Did you not realise that the NW doesn't actually exist except to those of us who live here Paddy?

Coming from Southampton, I think the South East has stopped well before Dorset, given I live in the South (no East or West added).

Poole is about halfway along a direct line from Margate to Lands End.  So E of Poole is SE. W of Poole is SW.

I grew up in Dorset.

My dad used to make us shut up and 'listen to the forecast'

All through my childhood I only remember them mentioning Dorset once!
