Seems to be an asset is the key. Just like the china cat on my mantlepiece.

Not really more that Livingstone is even worse.

Mr nasty Livingstone was putting thumping massive price increases on public transport for Londoners yet HE refused to use it preferring to send the bill for taking taxi's everywhere to City Hall.

Failing to touch in/out on an Oyster got you fined the max cash fare under Livingston which was just plain nasty as was the 'fine' for failing to pay the CC on time. I could go on and on!!

Livingstone is a Champagne Socialist of the WORST order.

Erm...ken didn't put fares up bedders.

Why is it someone else's fault when stupid people are unable to follow simple instructions? Whose fault is it if your tent falls down because you were too daft to even bother to lower yourself to read the instructions.

Will Boris do anything, other than blame the french, over the appalling air quality in london. For those who don't care, the EU keep threatning to fine london £300m for it. Which i suppose is your taxes too.

Should be a liability but seems 2b an ass.

Bedders, facts don't seem to be your thing.

Let's all vote for Boris because he's a hoot. <If anything justifies qualification to vote being dependent on intelligence testing, this is it.>

Love 'im or loathe 'im, Boris won last night. He claims he has no ambition to re-enter parliament in three years time to contest the Conservative leadership. No, Boris, of course you don't want to be Prime Minister!

PS: Bedderz, thank you so much for your lucid, cogent, and well-informed analysis of Ken Livingstone's policies during his tenure as Mayor of London - very insightful.

I loved the description of Boris as looking "like the Dulux dog in a suit".

Cameron had better take to wearing body armour, or at least some sort of impenetrable protection on his back.

Really, because the Oyster system never double counts your card as you swipe across it or fails to register your swipe out hence it's always clearly your fault and therefore a max fine is deserved!  (I call this sarcasm!).

Why are you swiping an oyster card? Have you read the simple instructions?

 hmmmmm.....

I remember that when KL became mayor a bus fare was 70 pence. I also remember that he put fares up to £1. A rise of 43%.

Oyster was introduced under KL so a lot of the base way in which it operates was set by KL and his cronies. All I've ever asked for is that people be treated fairly yet Oyster has been set up as and is run as an abusive monopoly that treats people as nothing more than cash machines.

A colleagues elderly father came to London. He was given a weeks bus pass. On the first day he rang up colleague to say he'd lost it. To cut along story short after ringing a premium rate phone number and staying on hold for while TFL cancelled the bus pass and reissued the oyster card with a bus pass on it. Unfortunately the way they work by the time he'd received the £19 card the pass had expired. I'm sure TFL was well upset at that! Strangely a few hours after reporting the card as lost it was found.... TFL refused to reinstate it.

A friend lives in zone 6 he bought a 1-6 zone TravelCard but due to an error he actually received a 1-5. At z6 and was refused exit unless he paid extra. Spoke to the ticket office who said that he couldn't pay the extra couple of quid to add Z6 he'd have to apply for a refund and then buy a new card but they advised that it wouldn't be worth it. To cut a very long story short the about £50 travel card that had verifiably been used for 1 journey and was an hour old was worth about £7 on surrender. It is truly PHENOMENAL how one sided TFL are when working out the refund.

I've travelled enough to see how other countries implement city public transport systems and London is a disgrace. The only 'smart' thing about Oyster is how its used to extrort the maximum amount of money out of people.

In pointing out why I hate KL doesn't mean that I endorse Boris J.... there both as bad as each other.

I was merely pointing to his record on public transport.... things like his need to subsidize London's unemployed on buses because they were so unaffordable.

BTW This subsidy was paid for by the people of Venezuela.... WTF!!!! Having been to Venezuela its a disgrace and utter embarrassment.

lol. contrary to your belief bedders, the world does not exist to serve your every whim.

some nice hearsay ther bedders so lets look at it properly shall we...erm..i mean...read the instructions.

your first "example" - firstly i can't see why anyone else is to blame for any delay you have because YOU lose something. perhaps you can explain why it's somebody's else's fault?

was the card registered? not registered - untold hassle if it's lost or stolen. registered a doddle to get a replacement. read the very simple instructions for use.

your second example - why is it someone else's fault they were sold - at a completely DIFFERENT PRICE - a card that didn't cover the area in which they wished to travel? again, perhaps you can explain why.

card wouldn't let him out at the station? sorry but that is BS. that isn't how the cards work. read the very simple instructions - especially about registering your card.

so, no read the instructions, no joy. some people can always manage to make something that is very simple rather complicated. i put diesel in my petrol car. it's the (insert rant of choice here) fault.

a nice selective memory bedders. the £1 bus fare was the CASH fare. the OYSTER fare was 50p.

still, it's always nice not to let any of those pesky facts get in the way of a rabid rant.

i share your view of venezuela but applied to many areas of north london.

Bedouin, "In pointing out why I hate KL doesn't mean that I endorse Boris J.... there both as bad as each other.", that is not what you originally said.

" Not really more that Livingstone is even worse."

Semantics is about meaning, not contradictory statements of opinion.
