Put yer willy on the counter.

She will no dobt react with:

"sir this is a clock shop not a cock shop"

To which you could reply:

"well slap a couple of hands on that then"

You should have pronounced it an-ah-log then she might have understood.

Nice one I was in Ellis Brigham ME shop on deans gate looking at the suunto core watch
I've never known an outdoor shop with sales assistants that know nothing about walking gear

You'd been blessed up to that point, then.

We have a great independent, Up and Under, here in Cardiff but you need to make sure you have an hour or two spare before crossing its threshold. last time I went in to buy a pair of lightweight 3 season boots...1½ hours later...

Everyone there seems to have a degree in gear with various majors in things like climbing, MM, expedition planning, footwear fitting and so on.

A Seiko Kinetic is not even pure mechanical. The movement of the watch gets transfered into electricity for running the (quartz) watch. A 100% mechanical watch is indeed something of a rarity in the pret a porter world.

Er...I think analogue refers only to the display.

It does.

However, as an aside, it has just struck me that my two 'nicer analogue watches' are not conventionally driven. One is a Seiko Kinetic and the other's a Longines Ultronic which has a tuning fork mechanism

I had an analogue Seiko Seahorse for about 20 years before giving it away. It was a waterproof automatic winder. I bought it in Singers for 20  bucks ($8 Singapore=£1) in 1967. Apparently, it's still going strong. I wish I'd kept it.
