New Year wouldn't be New Year without a resolutions thread, so here it is. What are you determined to do in the outdoors this year?

To kick it off, we've got our sights set on the Andes this summer for either a trek round the Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru or some climbing in the same area. It's where Touching The Void happened... Gulp...

Closer to home, we're determined to get out more and to lead E9 by October. Hmmm... yes, and that's going to happen.

So how about you?

Happy New Year to one and all.
I gave up smoking last year so Im going to have to think up a fun resolution for a change!

Oh Yes The Three peaks that's a good one, I've already done Snowdon but will do it again. (I'm not going to do it in 24hrs though just in my hols or something)!

To get up the ice wall in Ellis Brigham next week without my arms dropping off and completely humiliating myself

And I want to learn to climb properly, tying all of the knots myself :-)

After 18 months off with a suspected cardiac problems (now confirmed not to be the old ticker, thankyou thankyou thankyou) the resolution is to get back to previous fitness level, and then get a little bit better too.

Oh, and a very Happy New Year to one and all

I'll (begrudgingly)leave the "high risk" stuff to the youngsters and just concentrate on keeping decent fitness levels so that when i do get the chance to get the boots on i can hack it.
May have to give up drinking ale tho, i can eat for England when i've had a few and it don't help control the weight!!! :(

Get fit. Really fit. properly fit.

And to eat less choclit.
01/01/2004 at 14:39
Get fit again and therefore go for a ride without using the granny ring at all.

Be leading in the E's by end of the year.

Eat healthyer food (mite be difficult until summer)

Pass driving test (still)

To continue where I left off last year, by enjoying the fantastic countryside around me with my three Border Collies.

AND --------- to close the gates left open by the tourists and pickup the litter they leave with a smile instead of the customary frown and accompanying tschh tschh sound!!!!!

To get through the year with out ending up in hospital again, and to get into the mountains more (resolution one permitting).

To get out in the hills at least once every month (again).

To get some more climbing done (esp outdoors).

Finally get started on redecorating the flat.

Visit dad in france, and not have any family rows whilst I'm out there.

That'll do for now.

I resolve NOT to buy any more gear this year.

This may be helped by my having to buy a full kit for my sister and her fella who are novices at backpacking.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

My resolutions:

1. To visit every Peak Youth Hostel at least once this year. This will give me a ticklist to work on while...

2. Lose enough lard so that I can get in my climbing harness again then hit the Nottingham wall (quickly followed by hitting the Nottingham mats...).

3. Go walking (more than 8 miles) at least twice per month.

4. Visit the gym at least twice a week (I worked out that it cost me an average of £20 per session last year - D'OH!).

5. Buy a new bike, the embarassing Raleigh scaffolding pole special has got to go!

Some resolutions that almost made it...

Give up drinking.
Give up Birds caramel doughnuts.
Get a better job.
Learn to drive.
Give up bodging the PC together and buy one that works - with a guarantee.

Happy New Year to All from assorted Conleys.

Resolutions? I'll get back to you when I'm siberer.
Soberer.

See what I mean?

Not really one for new year resolutions, I'll be starting 2004 same as 2003 with a weekend in the Lakes.

Certainly won't giving up good wine & chocolate.

Intend to have at least as many trips north of the border as last year, more weekends away, get away somewhere exotic for xmas, but first an intial rest to rid of lingering thigh injury - after this w\e though.

To get really fit; work hard and play harder.
To get up before the crack of dawn so that I can be out on the hill earlier in the day.
To visit the Lakes, Scotland and Wales at least once during the year ahead and perhaps, somewhere overseas.
To buy a warmer sleeping bag and extent my camping season.
To try something other than walking - canoeing or mountain biking - something like that.
To attend a winter mountain skills course.
To set up a website.

And finally ... to find the time to do all of the above!

Happy New Year!
