Did you know that in all the roman catholic countries (or countries where roman catholics live) st paddys day is the only day that you can partake of that which you have abstained from for lent?
Bit of useless info there, perhaps i should have posted that on the other thread?
anyways enjoy!

Well I found out in the last year that my great granny was Irish so that makes me Irish too and can celebrate St Paddy's day and not be called a plastic Paddy like previous years. Aaaah the old country!!

You can celebrate St Patrick's day, whoever or whatever you are. It warms the cockles of this Brit's heart to know that Ireland's patron saint was a Romano Briton.

Yes, but there was no concept of Wales or being Welsh in that period - he was a Romano-Britain.

btw, my understanding is that Refreshment Sunday (usually the sunday on which Mothering Sunday falls) is also a festival on which you can abstain from abstinence.

Hi Grendle,

That's a bit harsh to say.

Hi Grendle,

Go f**k yourself..... Oh no wait.. That was Grendle's point... Ahh what to do now... I'll just have a bowl of frosties lucky charms.

P.S Grendle, please do not stereotype.

On a lighter note the 17th of March is also evacuation day in Boston. They celebrate it as the day the brits turned and retreated from battle and evacuated the city, this also warms the cockles of this Paddy's heart

Enjoy the frosties Rog

BTW I think its Grendel as in the spelling for the monster in Beowulf.

Am I right Grendle?

Evacuation Day? Is that when they purged themselves of...well whatever you normally purge yourself of?

Well played Mal... Well played.
Remember those poor Irish boys were under British rule and occupation. The choices against joining that regiment back then were very bleak indeed.

@ mal
well i just thought he'd be into the english running away from closer to home, but i could be wrong?
not really sure what it has to do with you though, but sure their you go
i guess maybe its just me but i've always found the castlebar races quite funny
