Innove8 Terroc - suitable socks

Bit of advice needed

Following TGO’s lead, I purchased a pair of Innov-8 Terrocs. I'm an instant convert and haven’t bothered with boots since even when scrambling or crossing bogs etc as dry out very quickly.

However….there is always some residual dampness. Nothing really major but can anyone recommend a sock which dries out really quickly? I’m normally use Bridgedale woollies but perhaps there’s something more suitable?

Err, how do I move this thread into the "Gear" section?

You don't (there is no way) so either start a new thread quick and post on here directing folk to the other one, or just live with it!
:)

As to your question, I've used my Terrocs (and Roclites) with Smartwool Light Hikers, Smartwool Adrenalines, X-Socks Expedition Trekkings and X-Socks Air Force Ones. The X-socks dry out slightly quicker but it is marginal, and the Smartwools actually feel warmer while wet so I tend to use them more.
Both the Smartwools are fairly thin for a wool sock - are your Bridgedale socks a full-thickness loopstitch sock?
I reckon the only way to get something a lot faster drying is if you can live with a very thin sock like Inov-8s own or a Coolmax liner sock.

Cheers Matt. I reckon most people will check all the forums anyway.

Will be checking your recommendations shortly. And yes, I have been using them with Bridgedale Summits which is prob a bit hardcore for Terrocs!

X-Socks - trekking Lite seem to the best match for me.

any sock that fits your foot properly. after all, the shoes fit perfectly.....don't they?

nowt to do with the fit - moisture clearance that matches the shoe's "pumping" qualities is what I'm after.

Last weekend, I mainly wore smartwool liners with my Sealskinz socks.

Easier to walk in than without the liners, though feet damp due to sweat with no-where left to wick to.

Too other socks for walking in/out. Also towel and some of Bob's lotions to look after feet.

I've just bought some Terrocs, as I want a shoe in which I can cover a lot of ground fairly fast...

...have I made a good choice? This idea of socks matching shoes intrigues me, I hadn't really given it much thought before now, other than I might want a sock with a fair bit of padding on the sole, due to the (relative) thinness of the sole of the Terroc...

...have I got it all wrong?!

not at all mick. it does pay to experiment to see what you prefer. matt's comment above is true.

i use smartwool if my feet are going to get wet and it's cooler out because they keep my feet warmer when the socks are wet. the socks do take a long time to dry though but isn't a problem if your feet are warm.

at other times i use x socks because they dry quicker and are better for me when the weather is warmer.

i also use a coolmax liner with the above because i can always change into a spare dry pair.

i only use those brands because they fit my foot properly and don't move about so much as with a looser sock. so less chance of blisters or hot spots.

Don't think you've got it wrong at all Mick but remember, Terroc uppers are 0% waterproof so whatever sock you use needs to be able to disperse water quickly (more quickly than the one's I've been using anyway!)

Top shoe though and hacks it when running too.

If you can drag yourself away from the Hiking socks, try the X-sock biking ultralight (in grey) works really well. (only an ankle sock)
