I understand there used to be a bridge across the R Carron near Achnashellac station but it was washed away, has it been replaced? Evidently it is a dangerous paddle. I should be there in two weeks so I guess it will have plenty of water.

I am going north and there is route over from Attadale avoiding the road walk to Achnashellac. I am aware there is another bridge further east if I was going to Gerrys Hostel , which I am at present not planning to do, though his site mentions a pub is that far?

Torridon Inn is 8 miles away.

Can't help on the specifics, but there has been little snow melt this year.

Edit. Phone Gerrys for advice and abuse?

There isn't one there. Nearest is at Craig which I've had to use to access the south side of the River Carron and onward and upward to reach Bearneas Bothy.

Thanks I will see how time goes to sort out my route. I would like to avoid the road, the bothy sounds inviting.

SD.If you're up for it.Walk SW down the road, approx 3mls..At
GR.957450 on the left side of the road,a field track, usually a few cattle in it, crosses to river side and a nice rail bridge over.
The other side a tarmac road .I cross here and head up to Bearnais
Bothy.I also use this route when heading west for Torridon. Cheers.

Thanks Waldo it is an option when I am up there. Do you just head up from the tarmac road or do you go to Arineckaig, I see there is a path roughly up towards the bothy

SD No, I don't go via Arinackaig, same distance but steeper climb
AND 250ft.more of it.
Head for Croc nan Uan then follow the burn up and over to a
small Locan at NH003 425.,then drop down to track for bothy at
approx.NH016 426.There is actually a faint track over the top.
The bridge route by the way, is often used by the temps. staff
from the hotel to reach the station.Easy access on and off the bridge,
track up to the road on the other side. Cheers.
