Mike...sure sign you are getting old!

;-)

Actually, I kind of like CW's style. Laid back and very informative. AND not too much on the old gear side of things.

Thanks for the complement Alex.

Coz I've got old!
24/09/2002 at 23:12
When does that actually happen?

...Just so I have an idea it's on it's way!

Somewhere your knees going west and your teeth going North & South.

Actually Alex, i think it's got something to do with nasal hair...
25/09/2002 at 20:58
I'm beginning to get a complex about this nasal hair thing...
25/09/2002 at 21:04
...new piccy coming soon. Not that I HAVE got a complex about it you know...

Ok...November issue...

I normally say that at least it's worth buying just to read in the bath.

This month it's not.

BUT BUT BUT.....the karrimor jacket didn't get best in test.

Haven't really read it yet but first impressions suggest its a bus only mag!

Very weak...

As ever in Trails "budget" (or low cost) gear tests, oddly enough the item at the top end of the price range got "Best in Test".

I wish they'd test the shop brand i.e LGT from F&T. They only ever test brands even when doing 'economy' reviews.

I just wish they'd buck their ideas up!

I really want to like the mag, but at the moment it's very difficult to do so, and each month there's always a letter in there saying how good the mag is, just sort of rubbing my nose in it.

Or am I missing something?

Hey Jon, you may remember my ever so slightly scathing mention of the rubbish to art article in the last trail and you said you quite liked that one...

Who wrote that article, anyone you know??
10/10/2002 at 20:06
I liked that article too, and I also like Maria's article about Mull in the latest issue.

Let's cut to the chase and say that her writing is head and shoulders above everything else in that mag.

It's precise, entertaining and interesting with loads of important information in her story. Well written and thought out, with good wit and humour.

Compare that to Jean Luc's Mountain Guide about Breariach. What a load of tosh!

He actually uses the phrase "vulpine cunning"! AND for a professional writer, why does everyone of his mountain guides last paragraph begin with the words "So as you sit atop [mount X] remember..." The only useful information in his diatribe is that it's the third highest peak in Britain.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM TRAIL GUYS...

Shape up or ship out.

(...and that's not just me sucking up cos Maria made me pasta once!)

John, I do vaguely recognise that red-headed woman who seems to write for the magazine... Is she my girlfriend or something?

Isn't Mr Spock a Vulpan? That would explain the 'vulpine cunning...'

I'll get me spandex coat...
