Making a molehill out of some mountains

I read this inspiring article in the Independent earlier this week:

Hiking with cancer: The final frontier
At 23, Tom Buckley has been told he has only months to live – yet he is braving the bitter weather to walk right across England. He tells Jonathan Brown why he has set himself this last, gruelling challenge:

Kind of puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

Have been following his daily progress at:

From the daily diary entries, it sounds like he had a really rough day yesterday and wouldn't it be great if he comes back today to find some donations and messages from OM members!   http://www.justgiving.com/thebuckers

Good on him well done Tom .

As we speak (ok i type) my wife is with her sister getting some news from bone marrow doctors at Pendlebury children's hospital,as my nephew too has Cancer in his leg/shoulder/eye.

We are hoping to have him home for Christmas.

It astounds me just how brave these kids can be (from 1 month old upto 16 on his ward) faced with such an uncertain future.

Hope he fulfills his challenge well done Tom mate  .

Good for him! Hope he comes on OM if he needs help along the way with routes info or kit advice, he would be most welcomed here by all I do believe.

Makes you realise you don't really have ANY problems , do you ?

Yes, sadly I do do actually! My problems physical and mental all began when I was injured at work, and eventually had to have a small section of my base of spine removed, as it was crushed/prolapsed from the accident I was in. It has been a bit downhill all the way since there for me really Bernie.

Saw the guy when out on Cleveland Hills last Friday - didn't know who he was until he was featured on local news earlier this week.
