New years eve at the Stickle Barn in Langdale is always good for a laugh as I am sure is the Wasdale Head Inn

Whoops, you asked about camping venues. Personally I always use the NT campsites when staying in either Langdale or Wasdale.

There is also a small campsite right outside the pub at Wasdale Head which is always handy after a heavy night. Guy can probably tell you more about that I .... Guy?

Stickle Barn has also been known to have people camping in the field outside the pub during the summer. Not sure if this is the case on New Years Eve or if its organised by the pub.

Wasdale sounds appealing.

I reckon wasdale would be a really good bet too.

Langdale would have a good crowd aswell, I suspect.

That was a quick reply.Wasdale sounds good.
Is NT site open all year?
Has it a shop open or best to take supplies in. I remember its a long way to the nearest village in winter. The site by the pub. Is that official or the field across the road?

Now you mention it I seem to recall that unlike in Langdale, Wasdale NT site is not fully open in the winter. I think it might be something like the shop doesn't open and there isn't any hot water, although don't quote me on that!

The site by the pub in Wasdale is both official and the field across the road. Again if memory serves you use the public facilities at the pub and pay at the Barn Door Shop that Guy works at. I'm sure he'll be along soon to fill in the blanks .... fingers crossed!

Here are the websites for both sites which might prove useful:

National Trust Campsite
The Barn Door Shop Site

Wasdale ALWAYS sounds appealing....

Unless it has changed the site at Wasdale is not open at all and the Barn Door is the only option in Winter. New Years Eve outside the Pub, Mmmmmmmmmmmm Great!

My New year will be with our only family in Portsmouth again...hello sailor!!

BOTH sites in Wasdale are open for New Year abd Christmas, as is the pub.

There is normaly a good crowd of campers that gather over the new year and the people who stay at the pub tend to throw open the doors and go into the public bar so it makes a great night.

The public bar doesn't have any music but they do encourage people to bring guitars and provide their own which normaly goes down well.

The shop is of course open except on Christmas day. There is a church service on Christmas day at the smallest church followed bby mince pies in the pub.

All of the above information can of course be found on the wasdaleweb

Oh and I shall be there :)

I will be at a party local to the pub and will stagger across for the chimes

There he is! Knew you'd come along eventually and help me out of the big hole I was digging for myself. Cheers Guy.

I may not be quick but I get there in the end :)

Im spending New Year in the Pub at Sykeside Campsite at Brotherswater and camping the next few nights. Anyone else going to be around there let me know and we can have a pint. The pup is very close to the campsite and owned by the same people so its a good night.

Well, for the first time in 5 years I am not working nights.

I am unfortunately working days on new years day however, so any enjoyment I can gain on the night before will have to exclude alcohol!!!!

Im working Christams day in exchange for New years eve off.

Working Boxing Day. 24 Hour shift. Bugger. I'll get plenty of sleep.
