They're doing that for every gold medallist. Only they're running out of gold paint so apparently there may be a delay on today's medallists.

I think it's a bit daft/embarrasing, we should rename the Don Valley stadium after her if were serious about honouring her.

I don't see it as daft, and that along with the stamps (which I think is a fantastic idea) is great PR by the PO, and the stamps is an inspired idea to bring in revenue as well as celebrate the gold medallists - I can see them selling comemorative packs at the end of the games.

Need a Gold boat for Ben Ainslie now! 4 x Golds (plus 1 silver) = Super Sailor!!

Well our local forum is throwing quite a few ideas out there, painting a tram gold, giving her the freedom of the city, civic reception with an open top bus tour of the city etc, she already has a pavement star outside the town hall.

It's a right Jess fest up here.

Yep, BBC showed a table of 'most winningest British Olympians', there's clearly a 'sir' missing at the start of Ben and Brad's names!

Shame Murray couldn't make it 2 Golds; feel more sorry for Laura Robson though. She's only 18 though so maybe next time??

Read something this morning (not sure how true), that Yorkshire would be seventh in the medal table at the moment if they were independent (ignoring the whole GB support and funding thing etc).

Oh, don't start that, Rocky, AT's been bad enough about that on Facebook!!

Yep, pity for Laura, but a silver's not a bad deal!

05/08/2012 at 19:48

Well it says so in the Daily Mail so it must be right!

Greg Rutherfords, postbox in MK earlier today. Loving how they are in dead ordinary locations.

But as I said on the other thread, I think Murray has as much of a chance as Fed of getting that gold.

Well, I was wrong, wasn't I? Fed had no chance of getting it!

I'm as cynical and 'anti' the Limpix as the next man but I watched Murray (not a player I normally like TBH) run all over Federer. To my surprise, I couldn't help getting really drawn into the match and into Britain's medal successes more generally.

Why couldn't Murray have done that a month ago?

I also watched Murray and young Laura Whatshername put up a very creditable performance in the mixed doubles.

Then in the pub last night, I cheered along with the rest as Bolt exploded into the record book yet again.

So even my 'bah humbug' attitude has been eroded by sheer sporting excellence although I still think the whole circus is a vast con run by a self-important bunch of money-grabbing arseholes.

the BBC has an excellent phone app for the Limp Picks. I only discovered it this morning!

well done skip. i knew something would make you get involved.

it is a vast con by the way. it was to make you lot (have i said thanks?) pay a much greater amount (by a factor of 6?) to regenerate a particularly nasty large area of London (a cheaper excuse than carpet bombing the area). The net cost of the actual Limp Picks should only be around 300m a year for the 8 years from inception. Peanuts to the 5-6bn extra spent per year.

i do wish commentators woul drefrian form subjecting us to their babble over the top of a national anthem

I love the 'Institute for Studies' and its Professor Henry Brubaker is a genius.

Matt, you are spending far too much time Mashing - d'you think you might need to get out more?

Since when did the Asymmetric Bars become the 'Uneven Bars'? Don't audiences know what asymmetric means?

There's a woodlouse trying to do a 1500m round my living room, I'll toss it outside.

Woodlouse tossing - a new Olympic event for Rio 2016?
