Not many places in the Lakes do booking for camping mate...

I phoned one campsite and they said that they NEVER did bookings and that it'd 'probably' be 'quite busy' this comming weekend.

Soz I can't be of much more help dude...

Camping......

I quite often stay at the site opposite the Old Dungeon Ghyll, just turn up and pay the warden in the mornin'. Wasdale head has a decent site & pub.... Failing that you could always try bowling up to the Woolpack Inn, Eskdale and see if you can camp on their land.

Youth Hostels.... Patterdale is a nice one. If you fancy walking in the Howgills, try Tebay youth hostel (if it's still a hostel) and say Hi to Dave & Pat from me.... BTW The Cross Keys is usually quite good for lock ins....

Enjoy....

Oh yeah....

Another option is to get the CAMRA good pub guide and get B&B through there.

The number that Paul gave previously is in fact the number for the whole of the Lakeland Barn network, 12 in all.

Mark - the one opposite the ODG gets full at bank hols and won't let any more in....next week may be worse as its 'National Camping Week'...
whatever THAT is.

That'll be the week when the nation goes camping, Jeannie.

There's the campsite and bunkhouse on the left after the kirkstone pass on the road to Patterdale, reasonable size and a pub on site. Depends where you want to be really; it's a lot quieter usually away from A'side/Langdale. The area beyond Skiddaw is quiet, after the summit crowds are gone you can often be the only person around for miles.

Weeellll Jeannie,

I avoid the Lakes in Summer & Bank Holidays so that'll explain why I've never had a problem there.

: )

you'll stand a good chance if you can get there Friday night but after that you might be struggling, the other trick is the wild camping option

I think Ben has a problem getting the caravan up to most wild camp sites ;0)
