Highlights are probably:

Winter Mountaineering course at Glenmore Lodge in March. Great fun, learnt loads, got knackered!

Trip to Swiss Alps in July. Even MORE fun. Even more knackering.

Getting made redundant and spending the best summer I can remember unemployed and without an income :-(

Other good things?

Just about making my aim of getting away to the hills at least once every month this year (except December).

My nephew coming along in June (eventually). He's cute and fat, and makes me smile lots.

All the OM/MR meets - and I didn't blow anyone up this time either.

Oh, and the Croteen NOT getting a chance to cut the rope as I didn't fall down a crevasse. Much to his dissapointment.

Sure there was lots else, but that'll do for now.

Getting bitten by monster ants in the Duddon Valley. They still haunt my dreams

Eeeeek... I missed an entire year then. In 2003 though, undoubted highlight for me was trekking Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp. Lowlights? Probably crashing very hard on steep rocky trail on my mountain bike in southern Spain, my right hand is still sore, I suspect I've broken it...

Monster ants? Be Colombian, deep fry them then snack on the little bastards.

Looking back, I was out in the Gulf from January until June. An experience I shall never forget! Coming back from that I trained like a demon to pass a week long selection for the Army Physical training Corps- Pass:-)
Attended various mountaineering lectures, notably one given by Maj. Bronco Lane- fantastic.
Got back into rock climbing after a long time away, and finally had some cracking weekends away walking and climbing with some good friends..

Oh, I nearly forgot a week in Goa lapping up the sun and living like a King;-)

High point, 3560 ft - summit of Snowdon on the hottest day of the year. Highlight, a fantastically clear day on Helvellyn in March.

Jon, good point. Can you tell I'm filling in forms etc for next year already?

Who knows, if I'm lucky then the Website pixies might change it to 2003?

Also, Cosmiques Arete on the Aiguille du Midi on a Eider press trip was pretty cool, as was bumping into an OM member on the street in Chamonix. Hi Phil...

Seeing a beaver while walking through the snow-covered forests of Vermont.

Deep SNOW at Alport Castles in January and more DEEP snow on Kinder in December were defintely the best bits of the year!

I think mountaineers are the only people who look forward and pray for snowy weather...(Well I suppose skiiers, but not many skiing opurtunities in England, heh). Kinda like us barking mad canoeists wanting torrential rainfall, heh....(Ya, you can blame me for some crappy days on the hill, meh).

eeeer that was in the summer, won`t get me over there now, bloody things frozen?

Climbed Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike so have done three peaks in one year (did Snowdon in late 2002). One year is easier than 24 hours! Did Yorkshire three peaks in less than 12 hours but it was one of those days when the cafe in Horton was not giving out certificates so will have to do it again in 2004.
May spot The Monk on the route - see other thread.

Happy New Year from someone who is working tonight!

Highlight; Moving out of a house and onto a narrowboat.

Lowlight; Freezing my T*12 off in narrowboat in winter.
