Nursing a nasty blister (i couldn't find my Compeed - the Angel may have been "tidying up" again). Great day out in the Chilterns yesterday though.

Took the kids to 'Forbidden Corner' in N. Yorks'. Scared them witless!

Just took the little one (she's a 9 month old Cairn Terrier) up CatBells. This was her first hill ! And guess what, yep she's knackered :)
On the way i kept telling her it was called DogBells which seemed to make her go a little faster.
I didnt see any asthmatic West Highland Terriers up there though, in fact the only one up there with asthma was probably me, yeah i know, i should take up swimming. What the hell, i like a challenge.
Glorious weather and nice views up there today.

Just driven back from an A1 week in the Dales with the family, i managed to sneak off and do a few routes though in Swaledale ;o)

This weekend has been excruciatingly tedious; boring unpacking and brain-numbing domestic stuff after two great weeks away. So I'd rather talk about those please !!

The first ten days in Chamonix walking and climbing with friends was brilliant, followed by a wet few days in the Lake District with husband and kids. The wettest was thursday, my "day off" when I had a soggy, slimy, waterlogged scramble up Browney Ghyll, and a very damp hike over Pike O'Bliscoe and Crinkle Craggs. On the positive side, it was nice to see hardly any other people on such a popular route in July !!

Yep, wonderful weather today. With the mtn bike out of action having the disc brakes repaired, I got out on the road bike in the Peak.
A long great ride, the only let down being the no. of noisey motorbikes out on the road.
Was looking at the month weather forecast on the beeb web site last night, hope it proves right, a good august forecast anyhow.

Played on the mtb, but I'm going to have to stop eating pies as I've trashed the saddle!

Spent the day on a Lake District National Park work party pulling New Zealand Pygmy Weed (Crassula) out of Bassenthwaite Lake.

Well, me and my better half went wild camping in the Lakes near Great Moss on the Esk.

All day Saturday and Sunday, what a great weekend, very relaxing, just taking it easy away from the maddening crowd!

Oh, and plenty of wine, most important wild camping item, well apart from the whisky of course.

Then a quick whizz around Ambleside for a coffee and cake, to pick up a few bits and bats then home, what a top weekend.

Spent the weekend being thoroughly ill. Great timing as I was supposed to be heading for Scotland yesterday.

Lorraine

if you've pulled all the weed out of Bassenthwaite does that mean it is open to sailing again. I was going to put my boat on it but they closed it due to algy bloom.

I've nearly finished painting it as well so if it is open I wil go for a sail on Thursday ?

failing that it's climbing.

Spent Sunday being crushed at Knebworth rather than climbing with mates in the Lakes. :(

On the plus side it kept the missus happy and I managed to catch her at a low point in the afternoon and convince her to go to the Lakes for a weeks climbing later in the month :)

Guy

We were tackling the NZ Pygmy Weed, not the Blue Algae. So, looks like you'll have to go climbing on Thursday instead of sailing.
