Hello peeps,

Tommy Emmanuel - quite possibly the greatest fingerstyle acoustic guitar player and entertainer in the entire known universe - is back in Keswick at the Theatre on the Lake on Friday 24 November. I'm going. Does anyone fancy meeting up?

See these YouTube links for just a weeny hint of what he's like. He's really quite unreal!

Guitar Boogie (Give this one about 30 seconds to get going)
Classical Gas
Luttrell
Amazing Grace
Mombasa
Day Tripper/Lady Madonna

This one isn't Tommy, but I feel like crying each time I remember Marcel Dadi... Swingy Boggy (or Swing Boogie, as I've always known it :)

Come on peeps - you don't need to be a guitar fan to find Tommy an absolute blast. Anyone who loves music will love him :)

p.s. and for the girlies, he's quite nice to look at too :) hehehehe....

Sounds like a great excuse for a Braithewaite meeet to me ;-)

Yes, yes, yes!!!

C'mon Dave :) He's really quite unbelievable :)

p.s. and for the acoustic guitarists, just check out that left hand position on Lady Madonna/Day Tripper!

<fx: drool...>

p.p.s. Marcel is the sexy one with the bit of a beard on the left. He was killed on TWA Flight 800.

I'm definitely up for it, but if I'm going to Keswick on a Friday it would be almost criminal not to make it a weekend.

Absolutely, Dave! :)

So, Braithewaite then? Um... how far is that from Keswick?

Oh it must be at least a mile and a half to 2 miles.

Excellent! Walking distance, then :)

Hi PW
If you like accoustic you should check out 3 Men & Black. It's Pauline Black of The Selecter fame with a couple of guys from SLF, and The Specials (remember them?) and they tour the country doing accoustic sessions. They usually have guests from the pop world of the same era as them, (late seventies, early eighties)

Dave
Don't let PW fool you, he sounds like a male stripper from Barnsley, you might be the only man there!.

PW, if you like the celtic stuff (and I'm sure you've heard of him already) you may wanna check out Martin Simpson. If my geography is right he's playing a few gigs near your way.

Martin Simpson is cool, thanks Mike M :) I saw him round here last year.

Only jokin' PW.

But with a name like Tommy Emmanuel?????, he's got to be havin' a laugh.

We like that Jose Gonzalez bloke at the mo', good background shop music. Not necessarily my sort of stuff, but nice for a wide range of customers.

Jose G. recently played in Harrogate and was v. good apparently.

Peewiglet,

I'll try and get there. Seems like a good combination of a nice place to be and a good night out.

I might even be able to give him a few tips on playing!
