Ullswater Camping

Hi folks,

The missus and I are looking to go camping during the Queens Jubilee bank holiday and, at present, most of the prices I;ve seen have been equivalent to staying in a B&B.

Does anyone know of, or have used, a campsite that is reasonably cheap in the Ullswater area? We would ideally want one with some basic toilet/shower facilities but I suspect this is the reason why most of the prices I've found are quite high (as well as it being high season).

Thanks

Great avatar!!

Depends what you call reasonable. Sykeside (a few miles out is OK and for 2 would be about £10 per night each (average)

Side Farm, not stopped there but walked past it, not perfect pitches and road seems a bit of a pig to get to it.

Gillside - Can get VERY busy but good location and from memory no booking option

Think it will be busy where ever you head for though

Don't ask me... I only live in the county!

I'm afraid I still think that campsites should be charging 20p per night, and once they start asking for £s, that tends to drive me to the fells, where there's actually quite a lot of space!
