What do you do for a living?

So I'm sitting in work on a Saturday morning and wondering why the forum is quiet and then I remember that it's a Saturday morning and most people on this site should be out camping or getting ready to go for a day in the outdoors.

I work in Dublin airport for a ground handling company. It's shift work so I get the benefit of empty mountains on my midweek days off  but unfortunately it also means i work a lot of weekends

I'm just wondering what you all do for a living?

Decorator by trade mate but do a bit of exhibition and shopfitting as well. It's done me well over the years, can't complain.

I try not to work 5 days a week and 9-5... makes for a far more interesting life.

I'm an 'at home mum'. Sounds good ? -means my possible outdoors free time is the 6 hours between 9 - 3 Mon to Fri. Great for short jaunts, but limits how far I can range.

In fairness Paddy, you have the dream job.
No need to rub it in

I manage country programmes for NGOs. Don't get to spend as much time in the UK as I'd like but then I do get to some great places.

Mostly in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Whilst Paddy's is a great job... it wouldn't be for me at all. Work should be about job satisfaction and I get that with mine just about right, Paddy's for me personally would just be fun with a dose of satifaction on the odd times when someone says "great book - really found it helpful".

Unless of course Paddy gets lots of fan mail - used knickers and the like from adoring fans! I could get to like his job then...

In short... mine's a brilliant job when the weather is on my side. Without going into graphic detail, let's say that from time to time the weather can put a bit of a damper on things!

Rog... it took me TEN YEARS to get a halfway decent picture of the Sperrin Mountains!

Its maybe a bit like gear testing actually - that can sound like a great job but then consider that these poor folk will often be having to use things that they just know (often pretty well instantly I suspect) won't work as well as what they've got, try and stay balanced and objective etc etc.

Especially scary sounding with tents and sleeping bags.....

(My job isn't remotely outdoors related at all which is fine!)
