Why are there so many temporary traffic lights on my route home it's just not fair!!!!

I wouldn't mind so much but they're all on the steepest sections of road as well. It's so annoying when you just miss the green as well. Getting started just as the rain pours down from the only cloud in the sky!!!!

It wouldn't even be that bad if it wasn't uphill all the way. Motorists don't help either, just bouncing all over the road without paying attention.

Aaarrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Oops!!!!

I cycle to work, maybe should have mentioned that before ranting there!!!

But 3 sets, arrghhh!!!!

What!!!!!!!!!!

A cyclist obeying traffic lights.

Come off it, I believe in Father Christmas before that.

perhaps richard wears said uniform....ah! got it...
the temp lights must be to control the traffic where one lane is closed...

I used to have to negotiate 21 sets in a 15 minute cycle to work. Fixed ones, though. It drove me nuts.

As a cyclist, of course, there's nothing I like more than the thrill of ignoring the lights at a crossroads, and dodging the one-ton lumps of metal travelling at 30 miles an hour. After all, they couldn't possibly hurt me, could they?

It's not lights in general, but recently 3 sets of the temporary kind popped up at really bad places if you cycle (and follow the highway code) about.

Just needed it out of my system. Not a fan of the cyclists who ride through the lights at junctions. (Usually catch them up and overtake never to see again anyway).

Sorry that's a little stuck up.

It's just (in Edinburgh) loads of them seem to be appearing in really odd places.

Ah well, to the Mournes for the weekend!!!

You want to try mid wales. The temporary light signs at some are now permenant.

BTW, does anyone know what's going on with all the deleted threads? It looks like any new thread is going belly up. Even Jon's "Emperor's New Clothes" thread has died...

Excuse hijack - it just seems that this is one of the only threads working at the moment...

It was a techy problem it's explained on the RT thread.
23/09/2004 at 18:56
I just posted then bumped straight away and everyone else seemed to see it?? Thought the others where old deleted threads though??

Experiment, try and post another??

Just you try driving around Blackpool nowadays, especially on the Promenade.

Traffic lights everywhere, even traffic lights on round-abouts!!!

If people need to cross roads, then build pedestrian bridges. People are safer and traffic doesn't build up. But then again, I'm not an expert town planner on £50,000 a year.

Traffic lights aaaaarrrrggggghhhh.....!!

Traffic lights on traffic lights.....!!!

Where are my pills?
24/09/2004 at 09:29
That would be a little crazy. I think traffic lights on the pavement would be a tad amusing though..............

We have it all wrong in the UK.

I remember in Canada, even when you are at a traffic light on red, if it was clear to do so you could go on and turn right.

It kept traffic moving very well. I mean how many times do you pull up to the lights and nothing happens for what seems an age, why is that?

Ian - pedestrian bridges?
Oh, yes. You're not pushing a pushchair, elderly or disabled are you? Then you'd understand why there are not more of them...
Plus the inherently lazy (most of us) who would rather nip across than expend energy climbing 20 steps just to climb down again.

More All-Bran and bread with nuts, seeds and grit in is needed.

mmmm............ all-bran..................
