Hi all, Been a wild camper for years, up to 12 days/nights upsupported, (a little bit longer when I wore the DPM suit) with just what we could carry and in all climates. What really gets my goat is the kids who camp, seemingly everywhere leave a mess, spoil it for everyone. I get "buzzed" often and now I find that the WW Campsite at Talybont Res is being closed due to kids "raving" (well not really Raves just a couple of disposable BBQs a camping pack from Argos and loads of alcohol). The truth be known, the CPS is not going to waste time prosecuting "Ravers" on this scale, you cannot be moved on "immediately" there is a process that takes weeks, (see: Travelers/Gypsys'/Tinkers/Romanys'), sometimes never.

Besides if you have had a couple of beers it would be illegal for you to move your car!!! (I have seen a few people nicked this way).

Camp where you want, but leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories.

Yeah its terrible, I have been guilty of being a 'kid' raving. But I will always ensure that nothing is left behind, no trees get names carved into them, cans and stuff arent burnt in fires and jsut left there. It really annoys me when I find rubbish and stuff left out in the countryside, or anywhere for that matter really. It disrespectfull and plain rude for all other users of the hills.

Even when I go wild camping with some "less environmentally people", after we strike, I make them spend time picking up ALL (it's not mine, I ain't picking it up) the litter. Which can be good career with my local council as litter pickers earn very good professional wage, I kid you not £25-30k PA, I seen his pay advice, council tax, they have to spend it somehow!!!. But I admit I have carved my name into a tree some time ago.

If you catch me chopping down trees for a bonfire with my mates, playing loud music, breaking bottles and scattering litter around, then by all means call me a "raver" and string me up from the nearest tree, assuming I've left one standing.

If you don't catch me, then it's because I'm a "wild camper" and I've pitched my tent out of sight, kept quiet and not left any trace of my passing. I'll even brush the squashed grass upright again before leaving!

Southern approach I hope Dai? It's a bit more demanding than ascending by the Pen y Fan M1.

Ouch!
Do you realise what you've just said?

I'm running off to my old Anderson shelter now. See you after the blitz.

"woman in tow"??????????, arghh, I get you lots of F-E-M-I-N-I-S-T-S on here. I'd better explain, Sian is a city girl, poor thing never knew until today where wool came from. She really enjoyed it.

Talking of the same I better go and get her from work.

Went on a wild camp last night in the Brecon Beacons, woke to the beautiful site if the sun rising over Pen y fan in the distance, fantastic but on the way back to the car just a few yards from the road was the remains of a big bonfire.

Now I know the farmer wont have a problem with us cos he will never know we were there but this mess is just the sort of thing that will make him want to put a stop to it all.
