Just got back from holiday this weekend. I took time out last Wednesday to take my eldest daughter up Hellvelyn from Wythburn in less than ideal weather, the round trip took 4hrs including numerous chocolate breaks. Memory map says it's 8.5km with 800m of ascent. So what i here you say well she's only 6 and she walked the lot !! I very pround of her :o)

I had my other two 3 and 2 climbing on there hands and knees to get to the top of Pen Hill above Leyburn in the dales later in the week as well and they loved it.

I'd recommend sharing the hills with your kids, i had a thoroughly enjoyable time, only problem is i can't sneak off on my own anymore !!

Have taken my lad Dan away with the scouts to North Wales, but unfortuately never taken him on my own (hangs head in shame). If I get a pass signed by the commandant usually go out with the grown-up's.

MUST make sure we get some days on the hill next spring.

BTW Well Done.

Lucky you, Matt :)
Wait till they are in their teens and say 'I don't do hills' :(

Still, Tim is still a bit outdoorsy - he's taken to biking and cycled a 35 mile or so trip yesterday from Leeds-Wetherby-Knaresborough-Harrogate-Leeds :)
(and he's lost half a stone since he started cycling a month ago)

Every time I think of Tim I recall Si and Jon taking the p**s out of a slightly worse for wear Tim (Spar Vodka ??).

Oh happy days, shame about the weather.

Top shopping/beer/curry trip.

Hmm we brought him a bottle of Gorbaschew Polish Vodka back from Croatia. It was a pretty bottle with the top the same shape as St Basil's cathedral. He finished it in 2 1/2 weeks. we finished our bottle of Ouzo (in bottle shaped like a Corinthian column) in 1 week!

They know how to make nicely shaped bottles abroad.

I think Matt's daughter is a little young to being "mislead to the evils of alchol" by Ninja Starfish and a meercat!
