Wild camping in Llangollen

It's been a while since I posted here, but was really delighted to see the site and forum still going strong - not that I expected it wouldn't, but you never know, do you?

Anyway, I've got the chance to grab a few days camping in Wales next weekend - Llangollen to be precise - nestled, apparantley, in the Dee Valley.

My rather predictable question, therfore, is this. Can anyone advice on suitable spots in the immediate area. Preferably wild camping, but would consider a site in an emergency.

I don't have an infinate timescale in which to get to my spot, as I'm actually cadging a lift off my sister and her hubby who are spending their time there in a hotel. The idea is that they'll drive me to within walking distance of a spot, go off to their hotel and then pick me up on their way home. This means I can't have them trapsing about Wales looking for a suitable spot, so within the immediate area is a must. The hotel is situated within an AONB so I'm hoping there's a good chance I'll find a spot.

Incidently, I'll be coming from Manchester, so if there's anywhere on the way anyone knows of, that'd be just as helpful.

Any help and advice on the area would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Trevor, and the same to you. The first thing I did when I arrived is look for your name in the threads, but didn't come across it. So glad you're still posting here.

Yep! Thanks too my mate. Not so much on here now though, as am also on Woodlife, the bushcraft and nature awareness forum, and the new Chris Caine survival and outdoors forum too.
