I've been backpacking for decades, but only joined the Backpackers Club a few years ago. I'm still not sure how many OutdoorsMagic contributors are also club members. So... who's going to the AGM at Ashford in the Water, near Bakewell in the White Peak, over the weekend of 27th to 29th April? (Crikey... it's almost time I made plans!)

No lightweight gear festival this year Paddy so I will not be going

Having a lightweight gear festival is all well and good, I suppose, but most of the members are pretty clued-up in that respect, and nothing beats personal recommendations. Well... apart from 'try before you buy'... which might also be a possibility on the day.

Yep, I'm in. Great social occasion where I can sit around drinking beer and telling lies.  It's good to see friends and make new ones.

If you want to save the bus-fare, you'd better get a move on!

That's gone over my head!  What bus-fare?

Ah - like set off now, on foot?  Not going to happen!

Being in Sheffield it's not far for me, but i just can't be arsed.

Are you a member?  I've been in the club since late 70's & only been to a maybe a half-dozen agms.

Unless they are putting on a bit of a show like co-founder Peter Lumley & the liaison guys do in the North East I don't think you'd be missing much.  I may well end up giving it a miss in favour of a trip elsewhere.

Just realised it's not a gear expose anyway is it, just an agm.

That's what you get for skipping through threads.

Sorry... I was being too vague...

Maybe I should write cryptic crossword clues for a living!
