I find myself off to Tyndrum for a weekend in June with some 'less experienced' campers. Basically I am wonderig if anyone has any thoughts/opinions/recommendations on where to stay in reasonably priced hiker/trekker hut type things such as found at "By the Way" and "Pine Trees".
Oh and TBW and AT which one is closer to The Real Food Cafe?
Not sure what's exactly closer but I stayed at BTW a couple of weeks ago and thought that it was a pretty decent site with a very friendly owner - we were camping in our tent. It was a couple of hundred yards from the Real Food Cafe.
I was just speaking to a work mate about camping up there and he told me that he wild camps in the Tyndrum graveyard - there are apparently not that many people buried there yet!
BTW is pretty good, stayed there last year. Don't know about the graveyard though.
Think RFC is overpriced and overated, as the saying goes it used to be good

Can't comment on quality of By The Way or Pine Trees as not stayed in either of them but Pine Trees is nearer RFC.
As for quality of RFC it's always been ok when we've been in. Certainly one of the best fish and chips I've had outside of Yorkshire! And as far I know it still does fresh soups.
