Bit open-ended this, but I've got a bit of holiday needs using and am looking for ideas for a 4-6 day high country backpacking route in Europe. A few years back I did some of the Pyrenean Traverse with a mix of wild camping and huts and I'm looking for something similar. I've already been to the Dolomites and the Sierra Nevada and obviously there's lots to do in all those places but I'd like to go somewhere new I think. As far as huts go I prefer the more basic NZ style ones to the hotel types.
France has some 170 000 km of long distance paths, so why not choose one of those? They're called Grandes Randonnees, GR for short. With only 4-6 days, you won't be able to do any of the famous ones, like GR20, Tour du Mont Blanc, or GR5, but you could choose a portion of GR5 for example. Check out this page http://www.gr-infos.com/gr-fr.htm - imo not the very best, but at least it will give you a few ideas!
