Hi everyone

Tomorrow we are off on our first family holiday with a new baby (4  month old Riley).

We are off to the Forest of Dean and hope to do some walking and cycling.

Baby back carrier (Littlelife) is packed with sunshade and rain cover (hope we won't need the rain cover.  New Jack Wolfskin back back (the baby change one) fully stocked.

Just need some ideas for the best walks and places to stop for lunch.  We love walking around water and places with great views.

Any suggestions welcome.

Also, any good cafe's to stop at for afternoon tea and cake?

Cheers and Happy Easter to you all.

Hi Kermit,

didnt spot this earlier. Not sure if you will see this in time

Cannop ponds and Beechenhurst Lodge are a good bet for walks, cycle rides and water

Dick Wittington playbarn, Longhope for a wet day (hopefully not)

Dean Forest Railway, Lydney

Lydney park Gardens

Symonds Yat and Yat Rock for views and a riverside walk

Wye Valley also worth a look as it adjoins the Forest of Dean

Thanks Dave

We did a 8 mile walk today to Symonds Yat and Yat Rock today.  Not too bad with a 18 pound baby on my back.

Thanks for your suggestions.  hope to hire bikes (and a trailer) tomorrow.

Kermit

Symonds Yat is a lovely place.  There's a nice river walk and a nice pub.  They have a "hand" ferry to get you across the river.

Goodrich Castle near Kerne Bridge is worth a look (if you like castles).

Hi Simon

We stopped at the pub for lunch.  It was busy, but we managed to share a table with another family.

Walked along the river, which was really nice.  We did get bitten lots by bugs.  Should have taken some bug spray.

Didn't have time for the castle, but we did manage to bike around the forest...... first time we put our son in a bike trailer.

Thanks for the suggestions.
