Gouter Hut - Mt Blanc - Travel

Hi, has anyone had any luck booking the Gouter Hut this year? Not sure if Le Guardian has made his way up there yet or had got lost in the heavy winter snows. The phone line seems to just ring out and I'm not aware of any way to book via email yet. Any advices gratefully received!

UKC has to email them on refuge.gouter@neuf.fr or call +33 (0)6 43 84 44 92 if you want to make a booking after late April but before the hut is staffed in mid-June.

Geekinthesticks & milly ta very much. I've not been on that site before, not sure why, but it's alayed a few fears. All the books I've read seem to all say that you need to book in Spring to have a chance. Last time I looked June was in Summer! Hopefully not booked out by the guides (not the Girl Guides) before it closed last season, new hut though, looks very 21st Century.....

I'd contact them now if you want to stay there. They open for bookings on in late April and from then on it's a free for all. Apparently the new hut is smaller & so the chances of getting a bed space is reduced.

Folks, i've had a nightmare trying to get the correct site for booking. I am off to MB next thursday and only today have i managed to get booked on the website. One thing though is that they only had room for 1 person, but there is 2 of us. Surely they cant send one of us back down??? Would they not tell him to find a spot on the floor or something?

They cant turn people away at that altitude, if they are full he will kip in the dining room table or something, but you will possibly get lucky and both get a space. Just to warn you, it is one of the most inhospitable places I have ever been, bring a sleeping bag because the two blankets you are offered will not keep you warm enough.

Apart from that, you will have an amazing time. Good luck
