Trekking - any experience?

On behalf of someone I know, has anyone here been there?  Possible east/west traverse in mind.  Not quite a walk in the park!  Any comments appreciated.

google charlie frew....He was there recently.....Trans siberian express was always the way...charlie did it with a hi-lux

Not sure if the trans siberian actually goes from bejing anymore and its sadly not steam powered now! I would say however that treking would be expedition stuff as its still one of the least populated places on the planet.

They will need an interpreter.....and a survival course at the very least imho.  I'm pretty sure there was a documentary a year or so ago on mongolian horsemen (decendants of Gengis Khan) bbc tv might be worth looking for that too..
