Olympos or Alpujarra in March

Will it be spring or winter?

Apologies for double post - I'm trying to get some ideas.

Not sure about the Pyrenees now for March, and I've noticed a guide company do a walking trip to the Alpujarras in March, and I guess Greece might be OK for a walk up to Olympos? Or would it likely be snow bound? Can't find any info for Greece beyond the basic temperature guides for the resorts.

I know I could do Mallorca, or even Teide, but the photos of those places indicate its not my favourite kind of scenery.

Oh yeah - and it has to be basic/cheap, preferably with camping.

The Atlas mountains, I've read, get most rain in Feb/March and that, plus the snow factor, discourages me for that idea.

I think you might be out of luck with Greece - it's not well known as a ski destination but it does go on in the mountains. A nordic ski company I know ran trips in the Pindos and skied Mt Olympus. They used to go in late Feb, but I've found this Youtube video

from last March, and there are plenty of others out there. So I reckon there's a good chance it'll be winter, especially as it seems winter has really reached that part of Europe now.

It looks like you're finding that winters in a lot of European mountains are longer and more restricting than we tend to get used to in the UK. So you probably have to embrace it and go for some form of winter sports (try ski touring ) or else embrace a different kind of walking in the winter sun destinations.

Ah, thanks. Whats with the funky music on that vid? - it should be sad and morose, that Olympos can't be done in March without snow and skis!

Winter sports is out of the question for reasons of interest, finance and ability. So it might have to be Mallorca after all; I certainly want to make use of the free time....

A pal of mine in Mallorca emailed me the other day... showing me pictures of the snow going right down to sea level!

Of course... it might not be like that in March.
