Hi folks,

i've got some 20+ hour flights coming up and pdf facility on my mp3/4 player... any ideas which is a good/the best source for some pdf books to while away the time?
any recommendations? [some climbing/outdoor ones would be nice..not rum doodle, tom patey, The Doctor or touching the void/game of ghosts/silence or white spider, read 'em too recently!].

peering over the top of my half moon specs, i say cheers, all .

oh, and free and legal, too, please!!

Outdoors podcasts from the Outdoors Station from Bob! Flippin' excellent and he's a European award winner for it too! Go to the Backpackinglight.co.uk website for downloads free! Enjoy! http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/

Rest assured that the good folks over at Cicerone are looking into this sort of thing, and you can expect developments in the future.

coo, that was quick, fellas!! Ta!

www.radioarchive.cc

has lots of radio stuff unsurprisingly.

get some decent in ear earphones and you'll be able to hear everything with the added bonus of shutting out external noise rather than the usual annoying things that just compete with the outside noise and annoy the hell out everyone else.

http://www.gutenberg.org

Has thousands of books now out of copyright. Generally in html & text.

If your reader can't deal with these files then download a free pdf driver & print your own files.

Some good stuff there, Stewart, thanks for posting the links. The Red Badge of Courage won't keep you going for very long but is a superb short book. For a 20+ hour flight, I'd probably go for War and Peace which is a cracking good read, or dare to tackle Ulysses

Cheers for the link.

Kate, will check out RBoC ...

a word of advice for anyone thinking of downloading war & peace : get the linked/smart version - you'll need it to remember all the names!

am a bit worried about my subconcious....have got robinson crusoe, gullivers travels and a bunch of depressing russian literature...what is it trying to tell me!?!?

Maybe lighten the mood with some proper literature.

Free Dr Who ebooks.

Lord of the Rings ebook.
