Travel Insurance Altitude Restriction on Trekking

Looking for a cheap annual multi trip Europe only travel insurance.

Some firms though are putting a height restriction under their 'trekking and hiking' activities.

SwiftCover only does up to 2000m which isn't very good for anything really, ProtectYourBubble did 4000m although their quote has suddenly jumped in the last few days and I don't wish to spend that much when the alternatives are far cheaper.

Has anyone got a recommendation on a cheap provider that will cover say up 3/4000m to save me contacting them or going through all their t&c's.

For ref: Swiftcover for 2 people, both over 35+, inc winter sports came to 55 quid for a year.

Happy with that area of pricing, but not really much more.

The Austrain Alpine Club provides insurance as part of its membership, currently around £43. However, this is *only* rescue insurance and does not cover things like delayed flights, lost baggage, etc.

Snowcard will allow you to go higher but costs more.

Cover + Cheap = nope. Not a chance. Cheap is for a very good reason.

If you are happy with the level of cover for you, which you'll only find out by ploughing through the t&c, then go for it. Don' t forget to ask yourself will saving myself £50 be worth it.

Find a local independent broker and discuss what you want with them to get an idea of what's available.

Try direct-travel.co.uk - standard policies cover trekking up to 4000m and prices are reasonable.

The small print suggests it probably won't cover a full-on helicopter search & rescue. As always, a case of balancing the risk against cost of insuring against it.
