I've got the first (2002?) edition of "Via Ferratas of the Italian Dolomites:, Volume 1" by Fletcher & Smith (Cicerone) and I'm too tight to pay for the 2009 edition but I've got a few questions about routes around Selva.
In the 1st edition is says that the Oscar Schuster route up Sasso Piato has a frayed cable. Has anyone been in the last few years and can give me an update?
Also I believe there are two new routes locally, VF Col Rodella and VF Sandro Pertini. Has anyone done these routes?

Does anyone know of an English language website where you can find out the current state of the routes?
thanks

This is a good website, and yes I know it's in Italian, but if you type the name of the via ferrata you're interested in and press the 'cerca' (search) button, it'll come up; the route descriptions have lots of photos so even if you can't read Italian you can still have a look at the route.

We went there a couple of years ago. We didn't do any of those routes, but I do have the newer version of the guide. I'll have a look and see what it says about those routes.

Update:
VF Oscar Schuster - the lower part was re-cabled last year so lots of nice new cable to play on. It's a long day out and the 6hrs in the guide book seems to be very, very quick. Fab route on an amazing massif
VF Col Rodella - short, steep and very busy due to its easy access. Quite polished rock in many places especially on the exposed traverses. An excellent and testing short ferrata that ends at a Refugio

Glad you enjoyed it. Selva was one of our best family holidays. Something for everyone, including routes on big hills which were suitable for our children.
