Some nice shots in your vid, AJ. One observation: it might help old gits like me if your titles stay on screen for a bit longer, as I didn't have time to read them properly!

I walked Bow Fell a couple of times last summer during my first visit to the Lakes, once by going up The Band, but not via the Great Slab. Next time, may be.

I left the titles on quick display so that you have to go back and watch it again   YOu MUST go by the traverse, ive done both ways and like Wainwright says, it is by far the best way, you dodge all that orrid scree from the 3 tarns. The spring water is like nectar too Go - you wont be disappointed I promise.

We went uo Bowfell by this route a couple of years ago.  We started off by going up Pike O Blisco, then over the Crinkles to 3 Tarns, then along the Traverse & up the Slab.

It is a great way to do it.  We weren't lucky enough to get a cloud inversion but there was a fantastic thunderstorm whilst we were up on Crinkle 2.

The drink of water at the foot of Great Slab his highly recommended.

I remember drinking from that spring on the traverse one baking hot day a few years back. It was quite magical. I kept expecting Galadriel to appear.

The great stone slab is one of those things that's every bit as impressive in the flesh as you imagine it to be.

Nice report

An excellent slideshow, Aj Aj.

Good call going up so early in the day. Not only did you avoid the crowds but it paid dividends photographically with that fine clear sunrise and cloud inversion.

Bowfell is one of my favourite tops - a truly majestic hill IMO.  I've been up it a couple of times as part of the Crinkles-Bowfell-Esk Pike ridge route but the climbers' traverse and Great Slab route is high on my 'must do' list. Your vid is a further spur to do that walk soon, so thanks.
