I've given up trying to resize pictures for on here, too much of a faff and I can be lazy.

Easter camping fun in the sun! Or is that Snowdonia and snow?

Nice report, soggy but nice

Cheers Shewie - everything dry and put away now, must have been a dream.

I enjoyed that Kelvin - certainly a memorable  trip for you.

Quick Link

pity about the mat - the more I read about leaky insulated inflatables the more I'm not tempted to get one ( well, another one)

" The Comp pitched side on into winds will shrug off a battering far more ably than most give them credit for, it had it’s pole hood on and it’s a strong little beast then."

Is that, as in the length of the tent  square to the wind direction?  I've read that Lasers and Aktos might be better that way. Never seen any pitched that way though - of the dozensof each last year, everyone had them pitched end into the wind.

Wonder how the Scarp would fair that way?   Probably not so well as it's higher and steeper...

Not often I fully read a trip report but that was interesting!

I would ask about the cooking pot but doubt anyone would admit to "doing it" in an open forum!

Feckin ell; such misery

I love the first photo, soggy in the bothy. Excellent tale; it was like being there (but without the discomfort and with a hint of schadenfreude)

Yeah, nice write up

A tent was preferable to the summit shelter on Cadair when we were up there....

And I certainly know of one former OMer who used their cooking pot for 'overnight relief'... I found out when I went over to collect it for the first brew of the morning!

Aww Matt, that's what I wanted for a wildcamp!

Mole - I always pitch side on to the wind, it's what Terra Nova say to do themselves. The pole deforms quite easily but always springs back. With the wind hitting the pole from the end, there's no way for it to deform and it will just rip the end guy out. Maybe because people do pitch them wrong, there's a few comments about them being fragile. All my pegs were still happily in the ground but Simon had a couple pop on his Voyager.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments and Mole for sorting a couple of pics.

Matt, personally wouldn't use anything that didn't have a screw top as I've seen a few occasions when things have been knocked over.

Sunny Delight bottle for me usually and always a litre... 500ml is sometimes never enough.

I've never used a pee bottle at all. I quite like it if I have to get up in the night....  sometimes it's bracing to put it mildly, and sometimes it's sublime on account of the moon or the stars or a frosty cloud inversion. Whichever, I've certainly had some memorable moments that I'd have missed resorting to a bottle in the tent.

You're dead right there Matt - it's the rainy night's I want to stay in my tent however.

I thought my weekend in the Black Mountains was damp.

Fancy the Cyfrwy Arete this year if I can find a mug to drag me up it, and now know - dont use the shelter which I had planned - think changing me to a poet like you may help me.

Good blog - put a smile on my face

Cheers Chewie. Sleep on the narrow benches rather than sleep on the floor or better still do what Matt did!

Bummer about the Exped deflating.  Most unusual.

Did you find out what the problem was?  I've heard that their after-sales service is very good if you've got a faulty mat.

Enjoyed that Kelvin - thanks
13/04/2012 at 15:53
Jake not that uncommon (valves maybe) if you believe the interweb but supposed to be good after-sales and a long warranty. Just sold my downmat as well... matless!

Really enjoyed reading that mate and I guess you enjoyed doing it as well. Always looks and feels different afterwards

Cheers
