Thought I would add my TGO trip as well, as Aguirre said in this report, not many are seen on this forum, so like buses......

Far more very nice looking pictures there than I would've imagined, given the weather this year

Those are the greenest pictures I have seen for a while - obviously well watered.

Nice report - not sure about Gaiters and Kilts though....

A nicely written report and good pics.
For those of you espiring to be Challengers. Only 330
are selected out of 2000 applicants.Except for those
having done ten or more crossings, who then have the
privilege of automatic selection. Just a small point.
Cheers.

waldo,

Don't know where you get your info from?

300 folk are selected + some more from sponsors etc.,

About 440 apply - not 2000.

First timers have a good chance of getting in - if they have some backpacking experience and preferably in Scotland.

Those who do 10 or more crossings (Legends or Leg ends) are in the same draw. They get no special automatic entry.

It is a great multinational event. There is no elitism!

One of the reasons I put my Notes on here was to highlight and commend to others a marvelous backpacking experience.

Wonderful stuff - great report. You lucky man!

Aguirre,
I wo,nt continue with your comments other than to
say I am one of those legends or leg ends as you called them.
I did my first crossing when it was called the ULTIMATE
challenge in 1987 before TGO took it over.
I wo'nt say how many but it's ten plus completed.Cheers.
