Great write up Shewie, I've only got as far as Whitebridge ( reading it ) will get a bit more later, I bet you were glad to get away from the unexpected snow .

Most illuminating; a little damp perhaps.......but nothing compared to last years eh?*

*anecdotal evidence to be ignored as you like. I wasn't there - nor will I be

I heard the weather was a bit rough at times. I met a guy in the Lake District who'd thrown in the towel and made a hasty retreat from the TGOC. In fact, it was still running when I met him!

Most impressive - I think getting from the Highland Line to the East Coast proper would kill me off.

Enjoyable tale Chewie.

Just finished reading your blog while my supper cooks ( haggis ).

You have my admiration and respect after completing that Challange, just shows the weather in May, Snow, driving rain and baking sun all in the same few days .

Have you come across the Cape Wrath Trail WalkHighlands Blog about it   I met a couple of folk doing it a month or more ago.

I hope you got off with doing the lawn for a week after you got back home

Well Done

Thanks for the read Shewie - No hammocks this time?

Was it not a bit chilly/draughty with a tarp in that weather?

(I heard there were plenty of Trailstars this year - still not convinced myself - I'd never have fitted one on some of the pitches I had (last year) - tiny  me-sized islands  amogst waterlogged peat hags 3 times...)

I had a few conversations with 2 mates who did it this year - lots of snow it seems?

here's a shot that one of 'em emailed me (Monadliath near Carn Sgulain)brrr

Great write up Shewie, i remember reading your route and kit list preparation before you started.

Anything you regret taking or not taking?

Enjoyed the last hour reading that. Made be a bit envious (apart from the wet and windy days) missing it this year.

I did it last year and never thought it could be so bad again with 100 mph winds, how wrong was I!

A great report and pictures...well done.

Thanks for the kind comments folks

Alex - Cape Wrath is definitely up there on my to-do list

Mole - I was toasty most nights, the light bivvy helped keep off the chill and the Minim 300 performed admirably. We say snow but nothing like your pal did.

El Man - The only regrets were taking the Hyperflow filter which we only used once, I was warned I wouldn't use it by a few folks but I thought it was worth the weight penalty, turns out they were right.
I also regret leaving my Crocs in the car, they would have been nice for the evenings.

The 2 chaps I met that were in "The Cape Wrath Trail" loved it but they had a very wet time around Fort Bill and one of them couldnt cross a raging torrent near Sourleys Bothy ( ask Maria about the area  and the bothy, she may have photos on fb ), one of them was going to come back to this area and take more time to wander around, one of them was going to check out OM but I havent noticed him so far.
