Spent last week based in Llanberis,  Monday and Tuesday was spent on an ML refresher with Paul Poole, top bloke, then a few days walking on my own.

The refresher went well so I will be going for assessment early next year, on Wednesday I did Snowdon via the South Ridge, which was very quiet, I didn't see anyone until I got the the Cafe.  I then headed down the Watkins path, which was interesting, the top is a bit confused in poor visibility, not helped by finding someone who informed me he had come up the miners path!

Lower down, visibility improved and I got buzzed by a chopper a few times, it always concerns me that they might be looking for me.

Thursday was spent going up the North Ridge, Tryfan and the Glyders, I missed out Bristly ridge as I didn't think I had another scramble in my legs.  The descent down into Idwal was a real thigh buster, so I was pleased to get to the car.

Friday was a short day as I was flying back from Manchester, so I decided to go part way up the Pyg Track and come back down the Miners track.  I went up until I ran out of time, getting to about 850m before heading back.  On the way down I was hit by driving rain and was a bit damp by the time I got to the car.

For a first time walking in the area it was great, I'll definately be back it is about the same travel time from Manchester airport as the Lakes and has a very different feel to it.

Yes Steve it does have a different feel. It's also great to see it throughout the seasons, like the Lakes the weather can make a big difference to how things look and feel. Sounds like you had good time.

Sounds a good trip fella. Been climbing with Mr Poole and he's great company, got a very pleasant manner about him. Bristly Ridge will be there another day.

Glad you had a good trip, Steve. 'A bit confused' is a slightly optimistic description of the top of the Watkin in poor visibility!

Kelvin,  Paul is indeed great company, I'm hoping that he will be working on my ML assessment next year.

Thanks Kate, it was a good trip, difficult to get hill fit on Guernsey so I can still feel my legs now.  South Ridge was very pleasant  and I got some views on the way back and Tryfan and the Glyders was all that was promise.

If I could get OM to work I would upload some photos.
