As I'm sure many of you know, the owner of Alladale Estate in the Northern Highlands has big plans for the place and unfortunately the bothy is included in those plans.  Therefore it will no longer be available as a open shelter effective 1st November 2007.

Still, at least it removes the risk of being trapped in the bothy by a marauding pack of wolves!

It will probably look like this in about 20 years with global warming. BTW keep watching, this video is cool.

It gets worse - no problems with the loss of the bothy but now having done their PR homework, the Jurassic Park people have launched their attack on the Land Reform Act.

The idea seems that the zoo is a loophole which will enable Lister to run a large exclusive hideaway for £££, no worries about meeting scum like us.

The loss of a signifigant crag and 23000 acres of fine hill and glen must not be allowed to happen. If he gets away with this, then they will all be at it.

Very very clever.

Visit Alladale ASAP and keep visiting Alladale - you will not regret it.

a modest proposal

Sounds very cute and "oh, what an interesting experiment" until you get to -

"Calling for people to make "sacrifices" in order for his "visionary" wildlife park to go ahead, Lister made clear that he believes people should be willing to give up the right to access the land enshrined in Scottish law... [he plans to] charging guests up to £27,000 a week to stay at Alladale Lodge, which sleeps 16 people in sumptuous comfort. But he also says day passes will be available, for £50 per adult, with a ranger and food supplied, for those unable to afford to stay overnight."

It's always the same with these people isn't it? Check this out -

a discreet electric fence

This sounds a lot more serious than the Ann Gloag business which got all that publicity.

While the information within is a bit one-sided, reading the FAQ in the site below makes it hard to believe that the introduction of wolves makes it essential to block access...

The only reason to keep people out is so that paying guests don't feel cheated...

We are being scammed

Anyone who can have an estate that is closed is sitting on a unique product, a  gold mine.  Guarenteed hideaway for the idle super rich, wedding venue etc.

Kerchink.

Explains the enormous PR offensive and hiding of the A word for as long as possible.

This must fail!    Please visit Alladale  asap.  Keep on visiting (its great - OK M*nr* baggers need an attitude adjuster, but its worth it.
