A couple of my work mates are planning to do this event...40miles from Barrow to Keswick...in 12 hours!

Does any one know anything about this mad thing?...What route does it take? Both of the chaps doing it didn't know either!

Its a charity walk isn't it?? i did it a few years ago - a road walk of 40miles was quite straightforward, if a little sore on the old feet. It took me just under 12 hours, and for my trouble i was given a voucher worth four pints a beer and a lovely young lady massaged my legs - well worth the effort!!! Oh, and all monies went to a good cause.

P.S. You will need a personal stereo - The Ramones blasting in my ears meant I could at least walk at a good pace!!

I did it nearly 20 yrs ago. It's on the backroads from Keswick to Barrow via Thirlmere, Ambleside etc(or was). It started as a road race between members of the Royal Navy and Vickers Shipyard - when I did it this race was still incorporated. You may be able to find details from Vickers?

I'd like to point out that I'm NOT doing it...I'm trying to find out for a pal who is. Thanks for your info...I'm sure Les will be looking forward to the young ladies massaging his tired and aching legs.
