We are doing Ben Nevis this Saturday (2nd October) but we are looking for a second day on the Sunday, ideally something special within the Nevis range.

Munro category, suggestions please?

Aonach Mor & Aonach Beag (2 Munro's)or you could do the Devils ridge on the Mamores, An Gearanach, Stob Coire a'Chairn, Am Bodach, Sgor an Lubhair and on to Sgurr a'Mhaim.(4 Munro's)
Both of which are a good day out.

By doing the Aonachs you do get to knock off a couple of 4,000 footers, but I can't say the walk is that exciting, Frank's second walk (The Ring of Steall) is a great day out and the one I'd recommend, though we did it in the anti-clockwise direction. There's a bit of scrambling but it's all very easy and of course there's the obligatory 'Bad Step' which is on Sgurr a'Mhaim, but if you find it let me know.

The western most mamores Stob Ban & Mullach nan Coirean are an amazing day, shorter than the others too, if you need to drive back someplace.

If you have all the time in the world then the Grey Corries ridge is a super ridge walk with plenty of Munro potential.

All others mentiones are great as well!!

Or you could nip down the road to Glen Coe and do the Bidean Nam Bheann ridge (or however it's spelt) on your way home, which is bloody wonderful.

Just come back from spending 5 days in Glen Nevis camping and the weather was pure hell, wind, rain, mist, rain, fog, oh did I mention the rain?

Our walk up Ben Nevis from the East up the Watershed onto the CMD Arete trun into and epic! Finding our way off the summit via the southern route down to the car was the most difficult navigation challenge we had ever faced and I must admit I was worried.

When am I ever going to see the bloody north face of Ben Nevis?? That dam mountain, I just want to wring its neck!!

I would agree that the The Ring of Steall is a great walk, just hope you get some decent weather.

Should have watched Alan Titchmarch last week for stunning views of the Ben.

Superb views from Aonach Mor to kick off.

Then some nonsence about Wild Boars, so I switched over...

Mike...I hate you!!!

I'm hoping to be back again before the year is out. Where exactly did you take that from?

And I missed Mr Titchmarch, I was in a tent in the pouring rain in Glen Nevis playing travel chess.

It was sunnier that that on August Bank hol Tuesday when Jon W and I did Tower Ridge. Hardly a cloud in the sky and we only saw one other group on it.

Ian 'twas taken from the CIC hut (it's 3 photos stitched together) June I think, just before we did The Ledge Route on Carn Dearg, which is the buttress you can see on the right. Oh happy days!
