I am going to the cairngorms on Sunday for some easy grade snow/ice climbs (conditions dependant of course). I have only been once before about 5 years ago and stayed at a centre. I see on the map that there is a campsite near to glenmore lodge has anyone stayed here and knows of pricings etc? Any knowledge of other campsites in this area would be useful also. I have heard all sorts of horror stories about the car park at coire cas does anyone have any idea of pricings and timings of this or is it best avoided.Does anyone know of any other car parks close to this area to avoid too long a walk in.
All tips/recommendations will be greatfully recieved. Thanks
Dave

was there last week, used the car park for the chair lifts/train it's free and very big although theres still a bit of skiing activity so car park is well used (no where near full though). Nice to start a day at 600 odd metres.
theres a few camp sites on the road that leads from Aviemore to Glenmore/cairngorms all look open and good facilities.
There was still plenty of snow in the gullies last week but it was VERY windy

IIRC, the campsite at Loch Morlich is Forestry Commission. i.e. hot showers etc.

Also nip up to the cafe for large breakfast is handy if you're still around at 8.30.

Careful where you pitch on the open field below the cafe as parts can get swampy.

Short walk to Glenmore Lodge for food/beers/pool/vids/climbing wall.

Thanks for the above info guys. Looks like there is still some snow and ice about mainly in the gullies so should be a good week.
Decided that we will go to the campsite at Loch Morlich and park at Coire Cas.
Many Thanks
Dave
