Climbing in Brittany

My parents have finally managed to buy themselves a holiday home on the north Brittany coast (I couldn't persuade them to get one in Chamonix sadly).

I've checked the basic info for the area and it says the north coast is granite- hopefully this means there will be some sea cliffs to climb! Anyone been climbing in this area or know of any where to climb there?

Thanks Ed- think I'm going to have to brush up on my schoolboy french!

Funnily enough the Longmans Audio Visual French textbook didn't include phrases such as "jam your fist in the crack" or "limited protection"!

Don't worry about the former - the French do not do jamming ;-)

Really- why's that?

I can just see the whole nation thinking that tape gloves are not 'sexie' enough

I was generalising!

But if you have been to Font you will know that the ability to support your whole bodyweight on an overhanging ripple the size of a matchstick is more important that jamming.

Though some of the granite in Brittany will no doubt succumb to the 'dark art'.

Well I've not been over yet but I am very much looking forwards to exploring the area. Also being a diver its also great as well.

Are there the equivalent of our climber's club guidebooks for the french regions?

Scree

You can find some guides here....but to be honest once you get to some of the online sites they have pretty good Topo's.

If you cannot speak French and use Firefox there is a useful translatorextension you can integrate.

I think with a dictionary and some practice i will manage. Sadly I'm still an obedient micorsoft slave.

Thanks for your help. I'm quite excited about getting out there now!
