A Local walk with unusual characters.

We hadn't intended doing anything today but finally decided to combine a localish walk with a visit to the Lancaster Maritime Festival at Glasson Dock. We parked up at Conder Green and took field paths up to the Lancaster Canal at Galgate from where we made our way to Glasson Dock after a look around the various exhibits/stalls and a bite to eat we made our way back to Conder Green. Pictures are now availabe + a video.

Arnside & Silverdale AONB

Not a lot of time available to us today so it was a short drive up to Silverdale. We then walked across to Eaves Wood and then onto Arnside Knott. From Arnside we followed the shore path to New Barns from where we took the cliff top path to Far Arnside and then back to Siverdale. Pictures from the walk are now available on the website under "Last Walk"

Local Walk

Due to ongoing problems with the Rheumatoid Arthritis we were unable to do much yesterday. However we did manage to get out to one of the areas local parks and get a few pictures which may interest some.

I have been to the Doc's this morning and he as changed my medication so hopefully it wont be long before we are able to do something more serious. In the meantime I have started a new section on the website called "My Favourite Pictures" which will be updated regularly. Yesterdays pictures are in the "Local Pictures" section.

Tarn Hows.

After an early morning appointment at the doctors we decided on a visit to one of Lakelands most visited beauty spots.....Tarn Hows.

When we arrived the car park was almost full but we managed to squeeze in and have a walk around The Tarns on a gorgeous day. Followed up with an Ice Cream things didn't seem that bad. The pictures are now on site located in the "Visions of Cumbria" section.

7th April 2008

Reston Scar & Hugill Fell from Staveley

Although still far from being right I was getting fed up not getting out so I persuaded Edith that this shortish walk would pose no problems. Bit of a dull day but still some good views to The Conistons, Langdales and Kentmere Fells + The Howgills.

Bit saddened to see that the cairn on AW's Hugill Fell summit had either Toppled over or worse still vandalised. Pictures from the walk are now available.

A trip out to Bowness and then to the NT Fell Foot Park at Fell Foot near Newby Bridge yesterday. A rather wet and dull day at Bowness but it did brighten a little at Fell Foot. There are some pictures in the "Visions of Cumbria" section for those interested.

19th April 2008

We were uanble to travel today due to other committments so straight after breakfast I took myself off for a walk around the shoreline and the village of Heysham. I also paid a visit to Heysham Harbour where I saw the MV Moondance which is the sister ship to the Riverdance which was blown ashore at Cleveleys earlier this year. The pictures for the walk are now available on the website.

23rd April 2008

Far Eastern Fells.

The weatherman for once was right today. It was a dull and gray morning but with the promise of sun later. With this in mind we didn't leave home until midday but were parked up and ready to walk by 1pm. As we set off up past The Howe to join the Longmire Track it was still murky but as we headed up the right hand side of the valley towards Long Green Head farm there was signs of it brightening and by the time we reached the short but steepish climb up the south end of The Tongue it was a glorious day.
From the summit we headed northwards to first the old cairns and then the sheepfold before crossing Trout Beck. Turning s'wards we followed the beck down to the old slate bridge and then to Troutbeck Park before making the return to thecar via Ing Bridge and Lane.

Pictures for this walk are now available.
