Hi,

I've recently been told I have a heel spur. I get pain under my left heel and I'm worried  if it gets worse it'll start affecting my walking.

The doc seems to suggest it's there for good!!!

Anybody else had to deal with this?

Nasty things. Heard of a chap with a progressive heel spur. Went from being called Strider to Limper to Hoppy to Stumpy to Peg to Wheels within a year. Very nasty things.

However the interweb is here to save you - Google should find a cure.

Is it a heel spur, or plantar fasciitis? If the latter, what's causing it? In my case it was over pronation - a trip to a specialist sports podiatrist ended up in a set of custom insoles that killed months of pain stone dead within a fortnight. The doctor was useless; I got the podiatrist number from a physio who'd treated me earlier that year for an unrelated injury. The terms heel spur and plantar fasciitis are sometimes used to mean the same thing, which they aren't - if you ignore plantar fasciitis for too long, it may lead to formation of a heelspur.
