OK so we all have our favorite fell, or climb or area.

We all have our best day out ever when the conditions were perfect , the cloud inverted and the beer was free.

But where is your best little piece of paradise? The place you go to, just to sit and relax and take it all in?

Not the huge fell day , or big mountain climb, but just the chair by the duck pond or the bridge over the canal. Where do you go to charge your outdoor batteries so to speak?

Starters for 10 is mine:

I always take time (unless it is chucking it down) to sit by Wastwater on my way to work when there is no one else about.

I just sit on the rock, breath deeply and watch the fells for 5 mins before heading off to work.

nothing extreme, or even exciting, but it does enough for me to handle most things the day can throw at me.

how about you............

Small crag on the path that veers of up Bleaklow and runs up to the left of Yellowslacks. You can sit up there and look down on Glossop and away towards Manchester, over to the A57 Snake Pass road and up at Bleaklow itself. It seems to be spot height 389 on the Landranger.

I go there to think when things need thinking about.

Summer leys Nature Reserve in the Nene Valley.

I live at the top of the valley and found this one day by chance. Its only a mile from my house and less than 1.2 mile from the A45, but still is very peaceful and full of wild fowl.

great place to wonder 'round on a spring/summer evening after work.

Superb question.... ten fave places in no particular order
1)Pool in Cowside Beck near Yew Cogar Scar at Arncliffe (go through the gate marked "no access")Just for undisturbed snoozing and watching the trout take flies.
2) Summit of Bolt's Law in Weardale at sunset on a warm summer's night (you can see the lights of Gateshead(!))and several horizons stacked one on top of another.
3) Bleara Moor at Earby - nice, soft heather and a superb view. You can see Mickledore on a really really good day.
4)Wolfstone Crag on Grassington Moor - feels very remote.
5)Wild camping in Upper Glen Feshie - just a magical paradise
6)The "meadow" above the falls in Glen Nevis
7)Feeding the mouse that inhabits the summit cairn on Ingleborough (with beer-soaked crisps)
8)Ben Nevis tourist path - for people-watching
9)Almost anywhere on the South Glen Shiel Ridge - its a cracker!.
10) Crossing the sands to Lindisfarne whilst singing "The fog on the Tyne is all mine all mine, the fog on the Tyne is all mine..."

The woods of Vermont, miles from the nearest town, watching the deer and beaver in the pond. If I'm lucky a pot of Ben and Jerry's ice-cream too.

I htink Mike's just being greedy - besides, Guy...... was talking about those little local spots, not the big epics.

Having said that, my fave local mountain biking ride and occasional walking stop off is near the start of a bridleway above Kinder Reservoir - around 30 minutes bike from my front door. There's a heart-achingly beautiful view over towards the downfall and right now the whole moor is swimming in dusty purple heather. Really beautiful.

..but Guy's "little local spot" IS a big epic!

Me, I've got the sunset over Winsford Salt Mines. The bar at the Red Lion is quite nice, too.

Sitting by the chalk cross on the side of the valley above Shoreham (its a war memorial). You can look out over Shoreham and the downs. Very peaceful, ideal for when you need to do some thinking.

I have the Malvern Hills as my back garden, and there is a lovely spot just off the top of North Hill (Here)

Down off the back of Foel FFenlli in the Clwydian hills. Much quieter than Moel Famau, the south side is even quieter. Great steep descent, looking out over Ruthin. Lovely angled field following (I'm running, by the way). Magic.

A perfect spot near Ullswater for me, but I'm keeping it secret, its all mine, mine, mine!!

Apart from that anywhere in Glencoe makes me smile and the southern end of Skye, near Elgol has some great spots to just chill and watch the Cullin from afar.

A 20 min run from my house is a granite bench at the top fo Carn Brea. It says on it "rest your weary soles" (not spelt wrong) so I do. You can see both the north and south coasts of Cornwall on a clear day.Lots of old tin mines and the views of the north coast are wonderfull. Its a little mini moorland up there. Theres ling and bell heather , bracken and gorse. Lots of big rocks and boulders , iron age archeology, standing stones ect.Theres the wierdest castle you have ever seen perched ontop of the rocks it looks like something out of a bad fantasy type novel but its a real 12th centuary castle. Theres a huge monument up there which can be seen from miles around and if you have ever driven up th A30 you will have seen it, Its not a very big hill but it packs a lot in.
