Very interesting, that full length zip. Like half duffel/half rucksack. Nice colours too. Any news on availability? My old Lowe Alpine Walkabout 35 now moults onto my clothes, and I never liked the bulging side-pockets. The 45l Granite looks tempting.

I'm not sure if it's a front zip into the main pack, or just a zip open front pocket...  given POD's reputation for gnarly, strong packs I suspect it's the latter. My Gregory Juxt daypack from 3 or 4 years ago has a pocket like that (a butterfly pocket I think they call it?), really useful too.

I'll be interested to see these. I wonder how the 50 litre Granite compares with the existing Black Ice, my favourite pack ever (as in 'if I could only keep one pack, that'd be it ).

Hmm, maybe. But on this page it says:

"Full length zip access through tough water‐resistant YKK zipper"

http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/news.php?id=1944

But then the close up photo of the Granite if it's the same bag, has me a bit confused.

Ah, I see, there's a fair bit more info over there and you're probably right. It isn't 100% clear though is it? Some of the pictures over on UKC looked like zip-opening packs, others I'm still not sure.

Not too long to wait to find out now... due out around March it said.
