I'm planning my next wild camp near Pen Y Fan at the end of this month.  I have no set route (I now prefer the flexibility of just rambling) but I am keen to see Tommy Jones' obelisk and get to Corn Du too.

I want to know if there are any particularly good start points (the Storey Arms?) and good wild camping sites (remote) with water for cooking nearby.

What else is worth a look at in the vicinity?

If you start at the Storey Arms, you can visit the Obelisk on your way to camp at Llyn Cwm Llywch, which nestles under Corn Du. Then next day, climb up to Corn du and continue along the main ridge to Pen y Fan and Cribyn.

Hi, I just got back from a weekend on Pen y Fan, we camped out just off the car park in the woods about 200 meters from the path leading up to Corn Du.( its the second car park as you drive out of the town, the one with the chuck wagon, sorry do not know the name of the lay by) there is a steam that runs between the woods and the start of the hills, great spot, mind you there have been some campers there which do not know how to clear up after them. anyhow a great spot, didn't see or hear a sole over night. a top weekend

In the end I started from the Neuab Reservoir, it then becomes about a 7 mile horse-shoe walk.

It was very busy.
