Looks like being cracking weather in Scotland over Xmas. Can't wait!

Yes looks great. Off later this afternoon for three great walking days, including Xmas Day down near the Arrochar Alps.

I shall wave at you from the Crianlarich Hills on Xmas Day!

I'll look out for you - it should be clear enough. We won't be difficult to spot as hopefully we will have the mountains to ourselves. Have a good few days on the mounatins.

Its looking far too mild for my liking. Too much likelihood of cloud and showers.

Leaf and I are heading up to Durness on Saturday so I will have to take two pairs of boots as its looks like it will be quite boggy with no frozen turf.

I'm obviously in the wrong part of the country. It was wet, misty and muddy in the Pennines today - but maybe it'll clear up in a couple of days.

I think I'm just too late: heading off to Langdale on Wednesday, just in time to see the predicted snow turn into rain. :-(

Woodie I don't know if you are back but a great weekend for being out on the hills, in particular Xmas Day when the weather was fantastic. I was through Crianlarich early on Xmas morning when it was -6C and was the same at night.
Hope you enjoyed the Crianlarich Hills.

Just back today Lindsay.

Christmas Day was unbelievable, the weather was perfect and I saw just one other person - he ran past me at the foot of Ben More about 50yds from the road.

Boxing Day wasn't far behind either, but yesterday the clouds were starting to come out and about - as were many other people.

The Youth Hostel was superb on Xmas Eve. Six Muslims with no interest in Christmas and another guy with the same idea as me - there was no mention of Christmas at all!

I'd recommend the hills above the obligations of turkey and relatives to anyone.

Sounds great Woodie! I'm heading up north on Friday - snow permitting! Unfortunately it doesn't look like any snow will last long. Maybe see you at Sykeside in January if you are going.

Hi Steve,

Have a good new year up there. Seemed to be plenty of people heading north today, so no doubt the place will be buzzing by Saturday.

May be at Sykeside, not sure yet.

Good to hear that you enjoyed your break at Crianlarich. There were a couple of vehicles parked in the eastmost car park for Ben More when I passed in the morning but were gone when I returned. I saw a couple of folks in the distance when descending Ben Vorlich to climb Little Hills but this was mid afternoon. As you say it was a great day especially with the weather and peace and quiet in the hills. Roll on the same again next year.
